  • What do you know about your profession that would genuinely disturb the people who use your services?

ExoticAveria Tech dude here. Way more systems are held together by temporary fixes than the public would be comfortable knowing
  • This is really good to know... unfortunately.

justlkin Your employer might be up your 401k deposits and somebody might never be catching it. Part of my job is to reconcile this stuff. It's crazy how often I see that employers or other providers in my same industry aren't doing this at all or aren't doing it properly.
  • Watch your pay stubs and make sure that what shows up there shows up on your 401k statement! On a similar note, when you enroll or make a change to your make sure it's reflected properly on the next payroll.
  • You wouldn't believe how much money I've seen people potentially could have lost out on.
  • A group of people use laptops around a conference table
  • A good therapist is worth their weight in gold.

Stray_137 Therapist here. A lot of "community mental health" agencies are greedy, money-hungry corporations who care more about billing insurance $$$ than providing good services for clients or taking good care of their staff.
  • ... But it's important to keep your options open.

Bearded_Hobbit We took an entire day with a psychologist on how to keep you hooked on our game.
  • Great thanks now I'm terrified!

casapantalones We don't totally know exactly how the inhaled volatile anesthetics work to cause unconsciousness and amnesia. We know they work, and we know how much we need to administer, but we don't have the exact molecular mechanism.
  • Now that you say it... how do they do that?

ColdSmoke3170 People would not like to know about the diminished mental capacity of a paramedic at 5am, when many heart attacks occur, who is on the 23rd consecutive hour of her/his shift and you are the 15th patient of their day.
  • I see the way they toss those bags around...

Marxbrosburner Don't put anything that can break in your luggage. Ever. Notice I didn't say "fragile," | said, "anything that CAN break."
  • It makes sense... but it's not right.

OranjellosBroLemonj Many nonprofits are focused on perpetuating the nonprofit, not solving the issues covered by their mission.
  • That actually seems reasonable.

redheadonread I am a professional gardener. If you don't give me access to your restroom, I am peeing somewhere on your property.

  • Booboobeebo080 Just because you sign in voluntarily doesn't mean you get to leave whenever you want. (Psych nurse)
  • GrandmaNetty There are certain students that we really despise. We just have to pretend and get through the day.
  • 3Magic_Beans A quarter of you are walking around with sleep apnea and don't even know it. Some day you might collapse from a heart attack and you'll blame every other lifestyle factor without even knowing it was a sleep disorder the whole time.
  • theaverageaidan Building security, with few exceptions, is a joke. I regularly walk into loading docks and back entrances of office buildings, hotels, restaurants, all kinds of places, and not only am I not usually asked who I am, people will go out of their
  • way to not talk to me. I walked into an upscale hotel in downtown Chicago through a loading dock with no badge, no uniform, no nothing, and not one person. asked me anything.
  • dirtdevil70 As a farmer... not sure people realise how often, and how many different critters sh#t and pee on the fresh produce eat everyday...
  • Acrobatic_Teach6914 *Former* Worked in a UPS warehouse (Hub) for a little. over 6 years even drove the brown truck delivering for a few Christmas seasons. Your packages are absolutely getting thrown, smushed, kicked, tossed and potentially crushed at some point in the logistics
  • system. Whether it's the sea of boxes on the main conveyor belt where everything is jam packed, or various human slave laborers tossing your package from one point to the next. It's real. And the supervisors + workers could give a sh less
  • A person draws the word audience on a whiteboard
  • Dubious_Titan I am not sure it is disturbing. Almost EVERY product is actually marketed to American Females between 18-35 who are either Caucasian or Hispanic.
  • I work in market research. This involves polling, doing consumer tests, and collecting consumer data on all kinds of products from coffee machines, to shampoo, to movies, to washing machines, cell phones, etc.
  • The product makers send a proposal to a market researcher stating the intended demographics the product should ideally appeal toward or drive engagement among a demographic specially.
  • This is represented as data quotas. For example, a research proposal might be seeking 70% females/30% males, 40%Caucasian/30% Hispani c/10% African American/remainder Asian or Other.
  • The reason being is American F18-35 Cauc & HSP, are largely the world's trend setters and more specifically, they usually choose all the products in their household.
  • If a product has high visibility or engagement among F18-35 Cauc/HSP, that product will almost guarantee be a success. These woment tend to be moms, wives, and girlfriends disproportionate to other groups.
  • The family goes to the movies and are very, very likely to see a movie F18-35 Cauc/HSP is willing to see or wants to see. F18-35 Cauc/HSP is very, very likely to select the stove, fridge, furniture, etc of their household. They are
  • very, very likely to buy close to 90% of their children's clothing. They are the most likely to choose the Netflix or streaming shows of the night. To buy their husband or boyfriend's cologne, razors, etc.
  • If you appeal to men, say the product is shaving razors, only your product will fail. Men rarely buy new things. Most advertising they ignore. They are less likely to chat on social media platforms about products and have dramatically fewer followers on social media than the average American Female.
  • So even if an average male does try a new product, and manages for whatever reason to post about his new razor on Instagram or X- he does so to like 7 people. 2 of which are likely his mom or girlfriend/wife.
  • ChuckleNinja Makeup artist here. Out of all the beauty services offered in the industry (i.e. hair, nails, skin/facials, etc.) makeup artistry is the only field that does not require a license or certification to practice. Yes I personally did
  • go to a school for my profession, but there are practicing artists with no certifications or formal education, no clue about hygiene standards, and no experience working on anyone but themselves. So if
  • you're hiring a makeup artist, do your research to find a true professional. Because you don't want unwashed and inexperienced hands. touching your face with dirty, used products.
